FAQs & Jewelry care

WILL THE LICHEN FALL OUT OR CHANGE OVER TIME?

The lichen in my pieces is preserved for longevity of wear. There is a thin sealant over them to prevent them from crumbling or falling apart. This being a natural material, it may change color over many years—though I have pieces that are 10 years old that look the same as the day they were harvested! I recommend treating your piece with care and not wearing them too roughly to keep them in their best shape.

CAN I GET MY JEWELRY WET?

While the lichen in my pieces is preserved, you can still damage them by submerging them in water. You’ll be fine if you’re caught in a rainstorm or two or keep your jewelry in a humid bathroom, but I do not recommend showering or swimming in your pieces.

IS THE WOOD PRESERVED TOO?

WHAT METALS DO YOU USE?

WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THE LICHEN IN MY PIECE?

Yes! The wood is sealed with all natural materials like beeswax and linseed oil, meaning it’s non-toxic and even food-safe while stabilizing the integrity of the wood.

All metals are nickel-free brass or silver, and all earwires are hypoallergenic titanium. If you require a different metal, please contact me for availability and pricing.

Hey, accidents happen! I want you to love your piece, so if your lichen scrapes off or you accidentally wore it in the shower, I can replace it (for a small fee). This is a service I offer, but very rarely have had to redeem—you can rest assured your pieces will last with the proper care! Contact me if you need a repair.
