Driftwood shows us the beauty that comes from weathering a storm. We all feel adrift right now, in the midst of this new, changed world. Let us trust that what we’re enduring will change us for the better. The patterns this will form in our minds and our bodies will be beautiful in their own way, if we pay attention to them and heed their wisdom.
This time is hard earned.
Let us remember that it is taking us somewhere and prepare ourselves for new, distant shores.
Each piece of driftwood is uniquely formed by the circumstances of its drifting. I like to say that driftwood shows us the beauty that comes from weathering a storm. The patterns that form in the midst of tumult reveal resilience and a tendency for rough edges to smooth.
May this piece help you reflect on all the ways you’ve weathered—and the strength and softness that has been exposed in the process.

This beautifully wave-worn necklace makes quite the statement. It is made from a large piece of dark yet subtly detailed driftwood gathered on Washington’s Pacific coast. It features a peach and sage green inlay of rock posy lichen from the mountains of Colorado. The pendant measures 5.5” wide by 3/4” tall by 1/2” thick—it is a big statement necklace, perfect for the right person or can double as a wall hanging. It hangs from 17” of brown waxed cotton cord that secures with a nickel-free silver lobster clasp.
I am happy to finish this piece without the clasp if you’d like to use it primarily as a wall hanging. Either way, it’s the perfect piece to keep you grounded whether on a wall or around your neck.
