Seeking Solid Ground Fir Root Necklace

What could be more grounding than wearing the root of a giant—the Douglas Fir? This piece was cut from a massive and old root system that sustained an enormous tree for hundreds of years. The wood, paired with this magnificent specimen of delicate-seeming but resilient lichen is the perfect talisman if you’re needing stability and purpose. I gathered the fir root while camping in the central Cascades of Washington and the lichen while living in the central Colorado Rockies.

The pendant measures 2” wide by 1 1/4” long. It hangs from 17” of tripled brown nylon tuff cord adorned with three chips of adventurine to accent the insect bore holes in the wood. The necklace secures with a nickel-free silver lobster clasp.
