MADE TO ORDER

Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of the materials, your piece may differ from that shown. I will email pictures of your piece prior to shipping.

Every branch and burl of a tamarisk is surprising. The colors vary, and whether subtle or rich, the detail is always astounding. This piece from near Moab, UT is exceptionally ornate, with hues of pink, purple, red and yellow. A large specimen of peltata lichen from the Colorado mountains makes this pendant especially striking in its every detail.

While making this piece, I was reminded of an encounter John Muir had with a Calypso orchid, which he found "more memorable and impressive than any of [his] meetings with human beings excepting, perhaps, Emerson and one or two others."

The burl measures 1" by 1.25" at its widest points and hangs from a 17" heather brown cotton cord adorned with pearly white seed beads.

Learn more about tamarisk (and lichen!) on the materials page.
